This comprehensive workshop service repair manual provides detailed instructions and specifications for maintaining and repairing your BMW 3 Series 325e, covering models from 1984 through 1990. The manual includes a wealth of information to assist you in performing a wide range of tasks, from routine maintenance procedures to complex engine and transmission overhauls. You'll find detailed diagrams, step-by-step instructions, troubleshooting guides, and technical specifications for all major components, including the engine, transmission, suspension, brakes, electrical system, and bodywork. This manual is an essential resource for any owner, mechanic, or enthusiast seeking to keep their 325e in top condition.

The BMW 3 Series 325e, produced from 1984 to 1990, was a unique iteration of the popular E30 generation. While it shared the same chassis and many components with the rest of the 3 Series lineup, the 325e differentiated itself with its fuel-efficient engine. This engine, known as the M20B27, was a 2.7-liter inline-six cylinder unit, but it was significantly detuned compared to its counterparts in the 325i and 325iX. The 325e's engine produced 121 horsepower, a significant drop from the 325i's 170 horsepower. This power reduction was achieved by lowering the compression ratio, utilizing a less aggressive camshaft, and employing a single-barrel carburetor instead of the more potent multi-port fuel injection system used in the other 3 Series models. Despite its reduced power, the 325e offered impressive fuel economy, exceeding 30mpg on the highway, making it a very appealing option for fuel-conscious drivers in the mid-1980s. Despite its fuel-efficient nature, the 325e still retained the essence of the BMW driving experience. It featured a responsive handling characteristics thanks to its well-balanced chassis and precise steering. The 325e also benefitted from a comfortable and well-appointed interior, with durable and high-quality materials. While the 325e may have lacked the outright power of its 325i brethren, it offered a more refined and relaxed driving experience, particularly for those who prioritized fuel economy without sacrificing the hallmark BMW handling and build quality. In the grand scheme of the E30 3 Series lineage, the 325e stands as a uniquely pragmatic and efficient option, providing an engaging driving experience while appealing to those who prioritized fuel economy and long-term affordability.
