The BMW C1 125 and C1 200, produced from 2000 to 2003, were pioneering vehicles that attempted to bridge the gap between motorcycles and cars. These scooters, with their distinctive enclosed bodywork, aimed to offer the convenience and comfort of a car while maintaining the agility and efficiency of a motorcycle. The C1 was a bold departure from traditional scooter design, featuring a rigid, car-like chassis, doors, a retractable roof, and a windshield. It incorporated a unique "safety cage" made of high-strength steel to enhance crash protection. The C1 125 was powered by a 125cc single-cylinder four-stroke engine, while the C1 200 boasted a more powerful 200cc engine.

Despite its innovative design and safety features, the BMW C1 faced challenges in the market. Its price was relatively high compared to traditional scooters, and the enclosed bodywork, while offering protection, also reduced its agility and maneuverability. Moreover, the C1’s weight and dimensions made it difficult to store and maneuver in tight spaces. Ultimately, despite its groundbreaking design and innovative technology, the BMW C1 was discontinued in 2003 due to low sales figures. However, its legacy continues to inspire and intrigue, as it represented a unique and ambitious attempt to redefine the boundaries of urban transportation.
