The Citroën CX is a large, executive car that was produced by the French automaker Citroën from 1974 to 1991. The CX was Citroën's flagship model, replacing the DS and aiming to offer a luxurious and comfortable driving experience with a touch of avant-garde styling. Designed by Italian stylist Marcello Gandini, the CX was a departure from the previous DS in terms of its sharp, aerodynamic lines, featuring a low drag coefficient that was exceptional for its time. The body was made of steel and aluminum, with the lightweight aluminum panels contributing to its impressive fuel efficiency for a car of its size. The unique hydro-pneumatic suspension was a defining feature, providing a smooth, almost effortless ride, along with self-leveling capabilities and excellent handling. The CX was available in a variety of body styles, including a four-door sedan, a five-door estate, and a three-door hatchback.

The CX's interior was similarly innovative, featuring an advanced dashboard with a digital speedometer and a unique steering wheel that was adjustable. The car offered a spacious and luxurious cabin with comfortable seats and plenty of headroom. The CX was powered by a range of engines, starting with the 2.0-liter petrol engine and moving up to the 2.5-liter diesel engine. The CX was also available with a powerful turbocharged engine. Despite its innovative design and advanced technology, the CX did not achieve the sales success of its predecessor, the DS. This was partly due to the rising popularity of Japanese and German cars at the time, and partly due to the CX's relatively high price tag. However, the CX remains a highly cherished and sought-after car by classic car enthusiasts, particularly those who appreciate its distinctive styling, impressive engineering, and unique driving experience.
