The Citroën CX is a mid-size executive car that was produced by the French manufacturer Citroën from 1974 to 1991. It was the successor to the Citroën DS and was known for its innovative design, aerodynamic body, and advanced technology. The CX was designed by the Italian coachbuilder Pininfarina, and it was one of the first cars to feature a drag coefficient of less than 0.30. Its aerodynamically shaped body, featuring flush door handles, a sloping rear window, and a smooth underbody, resulted in a remarkably low drag coefficient of 0.35. This advanced aerodynamic design not only contributed to fuel efficiency but also provided a quiet and comfortable ride for occupants.

The Citroën CX was available with a range of engines, including petrol and diesel options. It was also offered in a variety of body styles, including a four-door saloon, a five-door estate (called the Break), and a three-door coupe. The interior of the CX was spacious and comfortable, with a distinctive dashboard design featuring a wraparound instrument panel and a centrally mounted tachometer. The CX introduced several technological innovations, including a hydraulically controlled suspension system that offered a smooth and responsive ride, a self-leveling system, and a directional headlight system. The CX's suspension design, known as "Hydractive," utilized hydraulics to adjust the ride height and dampening, providing superior comfort and handling. The Citroen CX was praised for its distinctive styling, sophisticated engineering, and innovative features. While production ended in 1991, the CX remains an iconic car that captured the spirit of French automotive innovation.
