The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X, also known as the Evo X, is a high-performance sports sedan that was produced by Mitsubishi Motors from 2007 to 2015. It was the tenth generation of the Lancer Evolution line and a significant departure from its predecessors, incorporating a new platform, powertrain, and design philosophy. The Evo X was built upon a reinforced and stiffened version of the Mitsubishi Project Global platform, which also underpinned the regular Lancer. This platform allowed for a more rigid chassis and improved handling characteristics. Under the hood, the Evo X was powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine, codenamed 4B11, which produced 291 horsepower and 300 lb-ft of torque in its standard form. However, later models received power upgrades, with the final iteration producing 303 horsepower and 305 lb-ft of torque. The Evo X featured a sophisticated all-wheel drive system with an electronically controlled center differential, allowing for precise power delivery and adjustable torque distribution between the front and rear axles. Beyond its impressive performance, the Evo X also showcased a distinct design that emphasized aggressive styling and functionality. The front end featured a wide, aggressive grille, sharp headlights, and a prominent front air dam. The sculpted hood and flared wheel arches further emphasized the car's sporty nature. The rear end featured a large rear spoiler, dual exhaust tips, and distinctive taillights. Inside, the Evo X offered a driver-focused cockpit with Recaro sport seats, a thick-rimmed steering wheel, and a sporty instrument cluster. The Evo X was praised by automotive enthusiasts and journalists alike for its impressive performance, sharp handling, and engaging driving experience. While the Evo X marked a significant evolution for the Lancer Evolution line, its production ended in 2015, leaving a void in the high-performance sedan market. The Evo X remains a sought-after sports car for its combination of performance, technology, and distinctive styling.
