The Rover 25, MG ZR, and Streetwise are a trio of superminis produced by the Rover Group from 1999 to 2005. They were based on the Rover 200 platform, sharing much of their underpinnings with the Honda Civic, and were marketed as stylish and affordable hatchbacks. The Rover 25 was the base model, offering a range of petrol and diesel engines, while the MG ZR was a sportier variant with a more aggressive aesthetic and performance-oriented features. The Streetwise, introduced in 2003, was a crossover-inspired version with elevated ground clearance and a rugged exterior design. All three models offered a variety of engine options, ranging from fuel-efficient 1.1-liter petrol units to peppier 1.8-liter K-Series engines. The MG ZR, in particular, was known for its 1.8-liter VVC engine, which delivered impressive power and performance. Inside, the Rover 25, MG ZR, and Streetwise offered a comfortable and practical cabin, with comfortable seats and ample storage space. Though the build quality was criticized for being somewhat lacking, the cars were praised for their handling and ride comfort, making them enjoyable to drive both around town and on longer journeys. While the Rover 25 and MG ZR were generally aimed at younger buyers, the Streetwise sought to attract a more adventurous crowd with its distinctive styling and practicality. Despite achieving moderate success, the Rover 25, MG ZR, and Streetwise were overshadowed by the growing popularity of other superminis like the Ford Fiesta and Vauxhall Corsa. In 2005, production ceased as the Rover Group was sold off and eventually dissolved, marking the end of these iconic superminis.
