The BMW K1200RS is a sport touring motorcycle produced by BMW Motorrad from 2001 to 2004, followed by the K1200R model from 2005 to 2008. These motorcycles were known for their unique and innovative design, featuring a transversely mounted 4-cylinder engine and a single-sided swingarm. The K1200RS was a high-performance machine, offering a comfortable riding experience while retaining the sporty handling and agility expected from a BMW motorcycle. It was powered by a 1,157 cc liquid-cooled, four-stroke, in-line four-cylinder engine, producing 163 hp (122 kW) at 9,250 rpm and 113 Nm (83 lb⋅ft) of torque at 7,250 rpm. This power was delivered through a six-speed manual gearbox and a shaft drive system, providing smooth and reliable power delivery.

The K1200RS featured a distinctive and aerodynamically efficient design, with a sporty fairing that included a large windshield for wind protection. It featured an adjustable suspension system, with telescopic forks in the front and a single-sided swingarm with a monoshock in the rear. ABS brakes were a standard feature on the K1200RS, providing exceptional stopping power. The K1200RS was praised for its precise handling, comfortable riding position, and powerful engine. It was a versatile motorcycle that could handle both long-distance touring and spirited backroad riding. Despite its popularity, the K1200RS was discontinued in 2004, replaced by the K1200R model. The K1200R retained the same engine and chassis, but received a slightly updated design and a more aggressive riding position.
