The BMW R1150GS is a dual-sport motorcycle that was produced by BMW Motorrad from 1999 to 2004. It was a successor to the R1100GS and a predecessor to the R1200GS. The R1150GS was known for its rugged construction, off-road capabilities, and comfortable riding position. It was powered by a 1,130 cc (69 cu in) air-cooled, horizontally opposed (boxer) twin-cylinder engine that was rated at 90 hp (67 kW) at 6,250 rpm and 85 N⋅m (63 lb⋅ft) of torque at 4,750 rpm. The engine was mated to a five-speed transmission and a shaft drive.

The R1150GS featured a telescopic fork with 190 mm (7.5 in) of travel in the front and a single-sided swingarm with a Paralever system and 180 mm (7.1 in) of travel in the rear. The suspension was adjustable for preload and rebound damping, and the bike also included a 21-inch front wheel and a 17-inch rear wheel. The R1150GS was equipped with a 265 mm (10.4 in) single disc brake in the front and a 265 mm (10.4 in) single disc brake in the rear. The ABS was optional. The R1150GS was praised for its handling, comfort, and reliability. It was a popular choice for adventure touring and off-road riding.
