The 2012-2018 Chevrolet Aveo is a subcompact car that was marketed in North America as the Chevrolet Sonic. It was produced by General Motors and offered a range of powertrain options to suit diverse driving needs. The Aveo was available with a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine, generating 115 horsepower and 115 lb-ft of torque. This engine was paired with either a five-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission. For more spirited driving, a 1.4-liter turbocharged engine was also offered, producing 138 horsepower and 148 lb-ft of torque, connected to a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic. The Aveo featured McPherson strut front suspension and a torsion beam rear suspension, providing a comfortable ride and handling. The chassis was well-tuned for a balanced driving experience, incorporating a MacPherson strut front suspension and a torsion beam rear suspension. This combination resulted in a comfortable ride for passengers while offering adequate handling for navigating city streets or open highways.

While the Aveo was primarily a city car, its spacious interior provided ample room for passengers and cargo. It also came with a variety of features, including power windows, power locks, air conditioning, and an AM/FM radio. Safety features were a priority for Chevrolet, and the Aveo included standard dual front airbags, side-impact airbags, and a driver's knee airbag. For enhanced visibility and safety, the Aveo also incorporated a rearview camera for easier parking. The Aveo was designed with a focus on affordability and practicality, making it an appealing option for budget-conscious drivers seeking reliable transportation without compromising on essential features.
