The Isuzu Trooper, Rodeo, and Amigo were a trio of SUVs produced by the Japanese automaker Isuzu from the late 1980s to the early 2000s. All three models shared a common platform and styling cues, but differed in size and intended use. The Trooper was the largest and most luxurious of the three, offering a spacious interior and optional V6 engine. It was aimed at families and those who needed a capable off-road vehicle for both on and off-road adventures. The Rodeo, on the other hand, was a more compact and affordable option, making it popular with young buyers and those seeking a more nimble and fuel-efficient SUV. Finally, the Amigo, introduced in 1990, was the smallest and most economical of the trio, essentially a smaller version of the Rodeo aimed at buyers seeking a compact SUV with a focus on affordability and maneuverability. All three models were known for their robust construction, durable engines, and capable off-road performance. They were equipped with a variety of engine options, including gasoline and diesel, and featured a solid rear axle that provided excellent traction and ground clearance. While the Trooper was offered with a four-door body style, both the Rodeo and Amigo were primarily available in two-door configurations. However, the Rodeo received a four-door version in 1998, adding to its versatility and appeal. Despite their popularity, the Trooper, Rodeo, and Amigo ultimately fell victim to changing market trends and increasing competition from other SUV manufacturers. Production of the Trooper ended in 2002, the Rodeo in 2004, and the Amigo in 1997. Nevertheless, their legacy as reliable, capable, and affordable SUVs continues to this day.
