The Land Rover 101 Forward Control, affectionately known as the "101 FC," was a robust and versatile 4x4 truck designed for a variety of applications. Launched in 1958, the 101 FC was intended to replace the earlier Series I Land Rover in military and commercial roles. Its unique forward control design, with the driver seated ahead of the front axle, provided excellent maneuverability and off-road capability. The 101 FC's rugged construction, combined with a powerful diesel engine, made it suitable for challenging terrain and demanding tasks. It was widely used by the British military, as well as various civilian organizations like forestry services, utilities, and construction companies.

The 101 FC featured a 2.25-liter four-cylinder diesel engine, initially producing around 65 horsepower. This engine, coupled with a four-speed synchromesh gearbox and a two-speed transfer box, provided ample power and torque for off-road driving. It was available in various wheelbase configurations and could be fitted with a range of bodywork, including a flatbed, a dropside, a crew cab, and a covered van. The 101 FC's versatility was further enhanced by its ability to be fitted with a variety of accessories, such as a winch, a crane, and a trailer hitch. Production of the 101 FC continued until 1981, with over 20,000 units manufactured during its lifespan. The 101 FC's legacy lives on today, with many examples still in use around the world. Its reputation for durability, reliability, and off-road capability makes it a popular choice for collectors and enthusiasts.
