Rare mazda rx-2 rx2 sales brochure
This rare Mazda RX-2 sales brochure from the 1980s is a must-have for any enthusiast of this iconic sports car. The brochure offers a glimpse into the marketing and features of the RX-2 during its time, showcasing its design, performance, and technological advancements. It's a valuable piece of Mazda history, providing insight into the brand's commitment to innovation and sporty driving experiences. You'll find detailed information about the RX-2's engine, transmission, interior, and exterior, along with captivating imagery that highlights the car's sleek design and sporty appeal. This brochure is perfect for collectors, enthusiasts, and anyone interested in the history of Mazda and its legacy of rotary engine technology.

The Mazda RX-2, also known as the RX2, was a sporty coupe produced by Mazda from 1970 to 1978. It was the second generation of the RX-series, following the RX-3 and preceding the RX-3. The RX-2 was a significant step forward for Mazda, featuring a sleeker and more refined design, improved performance, and a wider range of available features. It was also the first Mazda to be sold in the United States in significant numbers, contributing to the brand's growing reputation for innovative and fuel-efficient vehicles.

The RX-2's success was largely due to its unique rotary engine. Mazda's Wankel engine offered a number of advantages over conventional piston engines, including smooth operation, high power-to-weight ratio, and compact size. Available in 1.1 and 1.3 liter displacements, the 12A rotary engine offered spirited performance, with output ranging from 90 to 110 horsepower. Though a bit less powerful than many comparable six-cylinder competitors, the powerband was surprisingly broad compared to the typical gruff rotary performance of the era. The RX-2 was also praised for its handling and ride quality, thanks to its independent suspension and responsive steering. Mazda offered a variety of trims, from the base model to the luxurious "Capella" (a name later adopted for larger Mazda models). The RX-2 was also one of the first Japanese cars to feature a five-speed manual transmission, which provided drivers with more precise control and better fuel economy. While not a huge seller, the RX-2's success laid the groundwork for more successful RX-Series models like the RX-7 and later RX-8 to follow.
