The BMW 3 Series (E36) is a compact executive car produced by BMW from 1990 to 1999. The E36 was the fourth generation of the 3 Series, following the E30, and was a significant departure from its predecessor in terms of design, technology, and performance. It was available in a wide range of body styles, including a four-door sedan, a two-door coupé, a convertible, and a wagon. The E36 was also the first 3 Series to offer a compact four-wheel drive system, known as xDrive.

Under the hood, the E36 3 Series offered a variety of gasoline and diesel engines. The gasoline options ranged from the base 1.8-liter four-cylinder in the 316i to the powerful 3.2-liter six-cylinder in the 328i. The M3, a high-performance variant, was powered by a 3.0-liter inline-six engine that produced 282 horsepower. The E36 3 Series was known for its sharp handling, precise steering, and responsive engines, making it a popular choice among enthusiasts. The E36 also introduced several technological advancements, such as an electronic stability control system (ASC+T) and a dual-stage airbag system. The E36 3 Series continued to build upon the success of its predecessors, becoming a global bestseller and further cementing the 3 Series' reputation as a benchmark for compact executive cars.
