The BMW K1200RS is a sport touring motorcycle that was produced by BMW Motorrad from 2000 to 2005. It was a successor to the K1100RS, and like its predecessor, it was known for its powerful engine, comfortable riding position, and exceptional handling. The heart of the K1200RS is its 1157 cc, four-cylinder engine, which was the first liquid-cooled 4-valve engine in the K-series. It produces a claimed 130 horsepower (97 kW) at 8,000 rpm and 107 Nm (79 lb-ft) of torque at 6,500 rpm, making it a truly capable machine for both long-distance touring and spirited riding.

Beyond its impressive performance, the K1200RS was also notable for its innovative features. It was the first production motorcycle to feature a fully-integrated anti-lock braking system (ABS) as standard equipment. This advanced safety feature provided riders with enhanced control and improved stopping power in a variety of conditions. The K1200RS also boasted a sophisticated suspension system that used a single-sided swingarm for easy access to the rear wheel and contributed to its excellent handling. The motorcycle's design emphasized comfort, featuring a low seat height, a spacious riding position, and an aerodynamic fairing that protected the rider from the elements. Additionally, it came standard with amenities like a large fuel tank, a convenient luggage rack, and an optional electronic cruise control system, enhancing its touring capabilities.
