The Isuzu Rodeo, MU, Wizard, and Amigo were all names for the second generation of the Isuzu Trooper, a compact SUV produced from 1998 to 2004. While each name represented slight variations in trim levels and regional markets, the underlying vehicle was essentially the same. The Rodeo name, primarily used in North America, became synonymous with a rugged and capable off-roader. The MU, short for "Mighty" or "Multi-Purpose" depending on the market, emphasized its versatility and all-around utility. The Wizard, mainly found in Australia and Japan, highlighted its sporty handling and design elements. The Amigo, a more affordable variant, shared the same chassis but featured more basic equipment.

Under the hood, the Isuzu Rodeo offered a choice of two engines: a 3.2-liter V6, producing 190 horsepower, for the standard models, and a 3.5-liter V6, generating 215 horsepower, in the higher-spec versions. Both engines were known for their durability and reliability, along with commendable fuel efficiency for their size. The Isuzu Rodeo featured a ladder frame chassis combined with a solid front axle and rear axle with coil springs, providing excellent off-road capability. It was available in both 2WD and 4WD configurations, with a manual or automatic transmission. The Rodeo offered a comfortable and spacious interior, including a roomy cabin for passengers and a load-carrying capacity that made it ideal for both family trips and outdoor adventures.
