The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IV and V, often referred to as EVO IV and EVO V, are legendary performance cars produced by Mitsubishi Motors from 1996 to 1999. These models represent the fourth and fifth generations of the iconic Lancer Evolution series, known for their rally-bred performance and aggressive styling. Building upon the success of its predecessors, the EVO IV introduced a new, larger 2.0-liter 4G63T engine with a revised turbocharger and intercooler, producing 272 horsepower. It also featured a revised suspension, improved aerodynamics, and a more aggressive front fascia. The EVO V, released in 1998, further refined the formula with a redesigned front bumper and a redesigned exhaust system that improved the car's power delivery and sound. The EVO V also featured an advanced Active Yaw Control (AYC) system, which utilized a hydraulic actuator on the rear differential to actively distribute torque between the rear wheels, enhancing agility and cornering performance.

Both the EVO IV and EVO V boasted a robust and highly capable drivetrain, featuring a five-speed manual transmission, a multi-link suspension, and a sophisticated all-wheel drive system. These cars were built with racing in mind, featuring a lightweight and rigid chassis, a high-performance braking system, and numerous other upgrades designed to improve handling and performance. The EVO IV and EVO V were immensely successful both on the racetrack and in the showroom. They dominated rally competitions worldwide, earning a reputation for their performance and reliability, and their aggressive styling and performance capabilities garnered a cult following among enthusiasts. Despite their limited production run, their legacy as iconic and highly sought-after performance vehicles continues to this day.
