The Mitsubishi Pajero Pinin, also known as the Mitsubishi Pinin, is a compact SUV that was produced by Mitsubishi Motors from 1998 to 2006. It was designed as a smaller, more affordable alternative to the larger Mitsubishi Pajero, and it was marketed as a stylish and practical option for urban and suburban drivers. The Pinin was based on the platform of the Mitsubishi Colt, with a unibody construction that provided a comfortable ride and a spacious interior for its size. Although categorized as an SUV, it was a unibody design, unlike its larger sibling which was a body-on-frame design. This meant that the Pinin was closer to a crossover vehicle. The Pajero Pinin was powered by a range of gasoline and diesel engines, including a 1.6-liter petrol engine and a 1.8-liter diesel engine, both mated to either a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic transmission. Visually, the Pinin was distinctive for its rounded bodywork and large, wraparound headlights. The Pinin was available in a variety of trim levels, with standard features including power steering, air conditioning, and a CD player. Higher-end trims added features like a sunroof, leather upholstery, and alloy wheels. Although not a particularly powerful vehicle, the Pinin offered good fuel economy and decent handling for its size. The Pinin was also praised for its comfortable ride and its versatile interior. Despite its features, the Pinin was not as successful as its larger sibling and ultimately, it was discontinued in 2006.
