The 2009 Chrysler Sebring was a mid-size sedan that marked a significant departure from its predecessors. Following a controversial redesign in 2007, the 2009 model year brought subtle refinements and aimed to address some of the criticisms levied against the previous generation. The Sebring offered a choice of three engines: a 2.4-liter four-cylinder, a 2.7-liter V6, and a 3.5-liter V6. The base four-cylinder engine, generating 172 horsepower, provided decent fuel economy but lacked the power some buyers desired. The 2.7-liter V6, with 188 horsepower, offered a better balance of performance and efficiency. The top-of-the-line 3.5-liter V6, generating 235 horsepower, was the most powerful option, providing spirited acceleration and a satisfying driving experience. The Sebring was available in three trim levels: LX, Touring, and Limited. The LX was the most basic trim, while the Touring offered additional features like alloy wheels and a sunroof. The Limited trim was the most luxurious, featuring leather upholstery, a navigation system, and a premium sound system.

Despite its efforts to improve, the 2009 Chrysler Sebring faced an uphill battle. Its bland styling and unremarkable driving dynamics struggled to compete with rivals like the Honda Accord, Toyota Camry, and Ford Fusion. Consumer reviews highlighted its lackluster performance, questionable interior quality, and a somewhat cramped cabin. The Sebring also suffered from reliability issues, leading to negative perceptions and diminished resale value. Nonetheless, the Sebring offered a spacious cabin, comfortable seating, and a range of available features, making it an appealing option for budget-conscious buyers. Ultimately, the 2009 Sebring represented a transitional period for Chrysler, as the company sought to regain its footing in the competitive mid-size sedan segment. The model was discontinued in 2010, replaced by the all-new 200, marking the end of the Sebring nameplate.
