The Subaru Tribeca B9 Tribeca, produced from 2007 to 2012, marked a departure for Subaru in the realm of SUVs. While the brand was known for its rally-bred performance cars and rugged, compact SUVs like the Forester and Outback, the Tribeca aimed to capture a different audience with its larger size and more luxurious aspirations. It was designed to compete with popular three-row SUVs like the Honda Pilot and Toyota Highlander, offering spacious seating for up to seven passengers and a sophisticated, refined interior. The Tribeca's signature styling was characterized by its bold, angular lines and unique "hawk-eye" headlights, a design that some found polarizing but certainly made it stand out in the crowded SUV market.

Under the hood, the Tribeca was powered by a 3.6-liter horizontally opposed six-cylinder engine, a hallmark of Subaru engineering. This engine, paired with a five-speed automatic transmission, delivered ample power for daily driving and towing. The Tribeca also introduced the Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system, which provided enhanced traction and stability in various driving conditions. Although the Tribeca offered a capable driving experience, its fuel efficiency was criticized for being less than stellar compared to its competitors. Despite its efforts to offer a premium SUV experience, the Tribeca struggled to gain traction in the marketplace. Sales figures remained relatively low, and the model faced challenges in competing against more established and popular rivals.
