The 1990-1998 Citroën ZX was a compact hatchback produced by the French automaker Citroën. It replaced the aging Citroën BX and was intended to compete with popular hatchbacks like the Ford Fiesta, Opel Corsa, and Volkswagen Golf. The ZX was available in a variety of body styles, including three-door and five-door hatchbacks, a station wagon (break), and a sporty coupe variant known as the "Volcane." It was known for its innovative features, including a unique "Hydractive" suspension system, which offered a combination of comfort and handling. The ZX also featured advanced aerodynamics, with a drag coefficient of just 0.29, which helped to improve fuel efficiency and reduce wind noise.

Under the hood, the ZX was offered with a range of petrol and diesel engines, ranging from a small 1.1-liter engine to a powerful 1.9-liter turbocharged diesel engine. The ZX was also offered with a variety of transmission options, including a five-speed manual, a four-speed automatic, and a five-speed manual with a "Sensodrive" automated manual transmission system. Throughout its production run, the ZX received several updates, including new engine options, interior refinements, and exterior styling modifications. The ZX was a successful model for Citroën, selling over 2.3 million units globally. It was discontinued in 1998 and was replaced by the Citroën Xsara. However, the ZX remains fondly remembered by many for its distinctive styling, innovative features, and overall driving experience.
