The BMW M3 (E36) is a high-performance sports car produced by BMW from 1992 to 1999. It is the second generation of the M3 model, succeeding the E30 M3. The E36 M3 was a significant departure from its predecessor, featuring a new, more aerodynamic body design, a larger and more powerful engine, and a more sophisticated suspension. It was available in both coupe and convertible body styles. The car was powered by a 3.0-liter, naturally aspirated, inline-six engine, known as the S50B30, which produced 282 hp (210 kW) in European spec and 240 hp (179 kW) in US spec. The engine was mated to a five-speed manual transmission, and later on, a six-speed manual transmission, which sent power to the rear wheels. The E36 M3 quickly gained a reputation for its handling prowess and performance. It was regarded as one of the best handling sports cars of its era, praised for its precise steering, balanced handling, and exceptional grip. It was also praised for its powerful engine and exhilarating driving experience. Despite being a sports car, the E36 M3 was still reasonably practical for everyday use. The roomy interior featured comfortable seats, ample trunk space, and a surprisingly smooth ride for a car with such performance capabilities. The E36 M3 was a significant improvement over its predecessor, and it helped to solidify the M3’s reputation as one of the most respected and desirable sports cars in the world.
