The Vauxhall Calibra (known as the Opel Calibra in continental Europe) was a sporty coupe produced by the British-owned German manufacturer Vauxhall Motors from 1989 to 1997, with a facelift in 1993. Its aerodynamic design, spearheaded by the talented Wayne Cherry, set it apart from other models of the time, achieving an impressive drag coefficient of just 0.26. This streamlined shape not only contributed to its striking appearance but also enhanced fuel economy and improved top speed. The Calibra was based on the same platform as the Vauxhall/Opel Vectra, but with a shorter wheelbase and a more rakish body style.

Powering the Calibra were a range of petrol engines, ranging from the 1.6-liter 8-valve unit to the potent 2.0-liter 16-valve turbocharged C20LET engine that propelled the Turbo model to a top speed of 152 mph (245 km/h). The Calibra also offered a sporty driving experience, thanks to its well-balanced handling and responsive steering. However, the Calibra's appeal went beyond its performance and handling. It was also appreciated for its practicality, with a surprisingly spacious interior for a two-door coupe, and a decent amount of cargo space. Despite its success, the Calibra was discontinued in 1997, but it remains a popular choice among enthusiasts, particularly the rare Turbo model, which has gained a cult following for its potent performance and iconic status within the Vauxhall/Opel model range.
