The Pontiac Aztek, a vehicle that sparked both curiosity and criticism, was a compact crossover produced by General Motors from 2001 to 2005, with a final model year of 2007. Designed to compete in the burgeoning SUV market, the Aztek aimed to combine the practicality of a minivan with the ruggedness of a sport utility vehicle. However, its unconventional styling, which featured an angular front end, a high roofline, and a distinct "waterfall" rear hatch, was polarizing, to say the least. Some found it to be bold and innovative, while others considered it to be awkward and off-putting.

Underneath its distinctive exterior, the Aztek offered a range of features and amenities. It was based on the GM Compact Platform shared with the Chevrolet Venture and Oldsmobile Silhouette minivans, providing a spacious interior with seating for up to seven passengers. Engine options included a 3.4-liter V6 producing 185 horsepower, and a 3.5-liter V6 generating 220 horsepower. The Aztek also offered a variety of standard and optional features, including power windows and locks, air conditioning, cruise control, and a rearview camera. While its sales never reached the heights expected, the Aztek remains a unique and intriguing chapter in Pontiac's history, showcasing the brand's willingness to experiment with design and functionality.
