The Suzuki Sidekick, later known as the Geo Tracker, was a compact SUV introduced in 1989 and produced until 1998. A joint venture between Suzuki and General Motors, the Sidekick was designed for the American market but was also sold in other countries under various names. It was built on a modified Suzuki Samurai platform, offering a rugged and capable off-road experience with a relatively compact size. The Sidekick was initially powered by a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine, but later models received a more powerful 1.6-liter engine with 16 valves. In 1991, General Motors rebranded the Sidekick as the Geo Tracker for the North American market, aiming to appeal to a wider audience. However, the name Suzuki Sidekick remained in use in other countries.

The Suzuki Sidekick/Geo Tracker was a popular choice for its compact size, affordable price, and respectable off-road capabilities. It featured a high ground clearance, four-wheel drive system, and a durable construction, allowing it to handle challenging terrain with relative ease. Although not as powerful as larger SUVs, its smaller size made it more agile and maneuverable on narrow trails and in urban settings. The Sidekick/Tracker was also known for its practicality, offering a surprisingly spacious interior for its compact footprint. It boasted foldable rear seats, providing ample cargo space for outdoor adventures or everyday errands. While its fuel efficiency wasn't remarkable, it was still considered acceptable for its class.
