The Pontiac Wave G3, produced from 2007 to 2010, was a compact hatchback designed to appeal to younger buyers seeking a stylish and affordable vehicle. Based on the Daewoo Lacetti, the Wave G3 offered a blend of practicality and sporty design. It featured a distinctive front grille with a prominent Pontiac logo, swept-back headlights, and a sculpted hood. The side profile boasted a sloping roofline and large windows, while the rear showcased a large, integrated spoiler and taillights that wrapped around the sides. Inside, the cabin delivered a surprisingly spacious and comfortable environment for its size, with comfortable seating and a driver-focused dashboard. The Wave G3 was available with a choice of two engines: a 1.6-liter four-cylinder that generated 108 horsepower, and a 2.0-liter four-cylinder that produced 141 horsepower. Both engines were paired with a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic transmission. The Wave G3 also offered a range of standard features, including air conditioning, power steering, and a CD player, while optional extras included anti-lock brakes, cruise control, and a sunroof.

Despite its appealing design and competitive pricing, the Pontiac Wave G3 faced a challenging market environment. The compact hatchback segment was becoming increasingly crowded, with established competitors like the Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla offering strong fuel economy and reliability. The Wave G3 also struggled to shake off its perception as a rebadged Daewoo, which ultimately hindered its sales success. Although it offered a good balance of features and affordability, the Wave G3 ultimately failed to capture the attention of the American market. In 2010, Pontiac discontinued the Wave G3, marking the end of the brand's foray into the compact hatchback segment. While the Wave G3 may not have achieved the same level of success as its competitors, it remains a testament to Pontiac's efforts to expand its product lineup and appeal to a wider audience. Despite its short lifespan, the Wave G3 provided a unique and stylish option for budget-conscious car buyers.
