The 2006 Chevrolet HHR, a compact wagon with a retro-inspired design, was a unique offering in the automotive market. Introduced in 2006, the HHR aimed to capture the nostalgia of classic station wagons while providing modern features and practicality. Its boxy profile, reminiscent of 1950s vehicles, was accentuated by its high roofline and large windows, offering generous headroom and visibility. The HHR's distinctive design elements included a two-tone paint scheme, chrome accents, and a prominent grille with horizontal slats.

Underneath its vintage-inspired exterior, the HHR was built on the GM Delta platform, sharing its architecture with the Chevrolet Cobalt and Pontiac G5. It was available with a choice of two engines: a 2.2L Ecotec four-cylinder engine generating 143 horsepower, and a more powerful 2.4L Ecotec four-cylinder engine producing 172 horsepower. The HHR was offered in various trim levels, including the base LS, the mid-level LT, and the sporty SS. The SS model featured a larger 2.4L Ecotec engine with a turbocharger, pushing output up to 260 horsepower. Regardless of the trim level chosen, the HHR offered a comfortable interior with ample space for both passengers and cargo. It also offered a wide array of features, including power windows, power door locks, air conditioning, and a CD player, with higher trims offering upgrades like cruise control, leather upholstery, and a sunroof.
