The Mitsubishi Starion, marketed as the Chrysler Conquest in North America, was a sporty two-door coupe produced by Mitsubishi Motors from 1982 to 1990. The Starion was designed to compete with other sporty coupes of the time, such as the Toyota Celica Supra, Nissan 300ZX, and Mazda RX-7. It featured a sleek, wedge-shaped design with a low-slung profile and pop-up headlights, giving it a distinctive and aggressive appearance. The Starion was notably one of the first Japanese cars to feature a turbocharged engine option, which was standard in the later models. The turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine offered respectable power, and the car's handling was praised by automotive journalists for its precise steering and good grip. The Starion was also available with a naturally aspirated engine for those who preferred a less aggressive driving experience.

In the United States, the Starion was rebadged as the Chrysler Conquest and sold through Chrysler dealerships. The Conquest was available in two trim levels, the base model and the more luxurious and powerful "Tsi" version (which had a turbocharged engine and other upgrades). While the Starion and Conquest were effectively the same vehicle, there were some minor differences in trim and features. The Conquest featured a more luxurious interior and a slightly different grille design to differentiate it from the Starion. Both models received a minor facelift for the 1988 model year, which included revised front and rear bumpers, a new grille, and an updated interior. Despite its sporty image and performance, the Starion/Conquest faced stiff competition from other sporty coupes and was ultimately discontinued in 1990. However, it left a lasting impression for its innovative design, turbocharged engine, and sporty handling.
