The BMW R1150R, R1150RT, and R1150GS are a trio of motorcycles manufactured by BMW Motorrad from 1997 to 2003. This iconic series built on the successful legacy of BMW's air-cooled boxer engine, offering a blend of performance, comfort, and reliability. The R1150R was a naked roadster, designed for sporty riding and everyday agility. The R1150RT, on the other hand, was a fully-faired touring machine, focused on long-distance comfort and wind protection. Finally, the R1150GS, a dual-sport adventure motorcycle, was renowned for its off-road capabilities and long-distance cruising potential.

All three models shared the same 1130cc air-cooled, horizontally opposed, two-cylinder engine, producing around 90 horsepower and 85 lb-ft of torque. The engine was coupled with a five-speed gearbox and shaft drive, offering smooth power delivery and low maintenance. The R1150R and R1150RT models featured a single-sided swingarm, while the R1150GS featured a traditional double-sided swingarm. The R1150GS also featured higher ground clearance, longer suspension travel, and optional luggage racks for added practicality. These motorcycles were known for their handling, performance, and comfortable riding position. They solidified BMW's reputation for building high-quality motorcycles that could handle a variety of riding conditions.
