With this service manual, you can gain a thorough understanding of the complexities of your Chrysler Imperial and confidently perform a wide range of repairs and maintenance tasks.

The Chrysler Imperial, produced from 1988 to 1993, marked a significant chapter in the history of the American luxury car. Following the discontinuation of the previous generation Imperial in 1983, the '88 model ushered in a new era, with a distinctive design that differed drastically from its predecessors. Built on the Chrysler E platform, the Imperial shared its underpinnings with the Dodge Diplomat and Plymouth Gran Fury, but was distinguished by its elegant styling, luxurious interior, and powerful engine options. The Imperial's exterior featured a long, elegant hood, a spacious cabin, and a distinctive grille with a prominent Chrysler emblem. It came equipped with a standard 5.2-liter V8 engine, producing 150 horsepower, and offered an optional 5.9-liter V8 with 200 horsepower. This power was channeled through a three-speed automatic transmission, providing a smooth and comfortable ride.

Inside, the Imperial offered a lavishly appointed cabin, with plush leather seating, woodgrain accents, and a generous amount of legroom. Standard features included air conditioning, power steering, power brakes, power windows, and a premium sound system. While the Imperial was a luxurious and comfortable cruiser, it faced fierce competition in the luxury car market from European and Japanese brands, which were gaining popularity for their superior handling and performance. Despite its efforts to maintain its position in the luxury segment, the Imperial's sales struggled to match those of its competitors. This ultimately led to its discontinuation in 1993, marking the end of an era for the Chrysler Imperial nameplate.
