The Citroën BX was a compact executive car manufactured by the French automaker, Citroën, from 1982 to 1993. It replaced the Citroën GSA and was the first vehicle to be launched under the brand's "Project G" initiative, which sought to create a new range of aerodynamically efficient cars with advanced technology. It was designed by Italian coachbuilder, Bertone, and featured a distinctive wedge-shaped body style with flush glazing and a sloping rear end reminiscent of the Citroën GS. While sharing many engineering components with other Citroën models at the time, most notably the hydropneumatic suspension, the BX stood out for its innovative features. These included an integrated and flush-fitting rear spoiler, the Citroën "Spherodrive" semi-automatic gearbox, and a dashboard design inspired by the aviation industry.

The BX was available in a range of engine options, including petrol and diesel units, with different power outputs catering to various performance desires. The car's advanced hydropneumatic suspension system, a hallmark of Citroën vehicles, provided exceptional comfort and handling, offering a unique ride experience that set it apart from its rivals. However, despite its innovative features and technological advancements, the BX was plagued by reliability issues, particularly with its complex hydropneumatic system and its early electronic systems. This, coupled with fierce competition from other European car manufacturers, ultimately led to its demise in 1993, after a relatively short but memorable lifespan. Although not as prolific as other Citroën models, the BX remains an intriguing and highly collectible car, particularly in its sporty GTi guise, which showcased the car's full potential and became a popular choice for enthusiasts.
