The 2002 Suzuki Liana Aerio, specifically models RH413 and RH416, marked a significant chapter in Suzuki's foray into the compact car market. Introduced in 2001, the Liana Aerio, often simply referred to as the Aerio, was a subcompact hatchback and sedan designed to offer a balance of practicality, affordability, and fuel efficiency. The Aerio was built on a new platform, sharing components with the Swift and Ignis models, and offered a range of engine options including a 1.6-liter four-cylinder and a 2.0-liter four-cylinder with variable valve timing. The 1.6-liter engine, known for its fuel economy, was particularly popular in European markets, while the 2.0-liter, offering more power and torque, was favored in North America.

While the Aerio's design was not particularly groundbreaking, it was functional and offered a spacious interior for its size. The car's suspension, a MacPherson strut front and a torsion beam rear, provided a comfortable ride while maintaining handling responsiveness. The Aerio also boasted an array of standard features, including power windows, locks, and mirrors, as well as a CD player in higher trim levels. The Liana Aerio was well-regarded for its reliability, even boasting a 5-star safety rating by the Euro NCAP in 2002. However, the Aerio faced challenges in a competitive market, struggling to stand out against its more established rivals. Despite a facelift in 2004, the Aerio's production was discontinued in 2007, making way for the new SX4 model.
