The Dodge Stealth, produced from 1991 to 1994, was a sporty and stylish coupe that marked a departure from Dodge's traditional muscle car image. Developed in collaboration with Mitsubishi, the Stealth was actually a rebadged version of the Mitsubishi 3000GT, sharing its platform, powertrains, and many components. This partnership allowed Dodge to offer a technologically advanced and performance-oriented coupe without the significant investment in developing one from scratch. The Stealth came in two main trim levels: the base model and the R/T, which boasted a more powerful engine and enhanced features. It was available with a choice of two turbocharged V6 engines, a 3.0-liter producing 160 horsepower or a 3.0-liter producing 300 horsepower for the R/T. Both engines were paired with a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic transmission, offering drivers a combination of both spirited acceleration and comfortable cruising. The Dodge Stealth's design, though inspired by its Mitsubishi sibling, was distinct in its own right. Its sleek lines, wedge-shaped profile, and pop-up headlights gave it a futuristic and aggressive appeal. The interior was equally impressive, showcasing a driver-focused cockpit with comfortable bucket seats, a well-laid-out dashboard, and a range of available features including a digital instrument cluster, power windows, and an optional sunroof. The Stealth's striking aesthetics, coupled with its performance capabilities, made it a formidable competitor in the growing sport coupe market. However, despite its impressive qualities, the Stealth faced challenges in the market against established competitors like the Toyota Supra and Nissan 300ZX. It was ultimately discontinued in 1994, leaving behind a legacy of a uniquely styled and technically advanced sports car that carved its own niche within Dodge's lineup.
