The Suzuki Kizashi, introduced in 2010, was a mid-size sedan aimed at competing with established players in the North American market. It marked a departure for Suzuki, known primarily for its small cars and SUVs, signaling the brand's ambition to enter the more competitive mid-size segment. The Kizashi, meaning "foreboding" in Japanese, aimed to embody a sense of confidence and sophistication. It was available in three trims: the base model, the SE, and the Sport. All variants featured a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine producing 185 horsepower, paired with either a six-speed manual or a continuously variable transmission (CVT). The Kizashi's design was a blend of sportiness and elegance, with a prominent grille, sculpted lines, and a dynamic stance. Safety was a priority, with features like anti-lock brakes, electronic stability control, and a multitude of airbags. The car also offered a well-equipped interior, incorporating features like leather seats, a touchscreen infotainment system, and Bluetooth connectivity.

Despite its ambitious goals and strong features, the Kizashi faced challenges in attracting buyers. Competition in the mid-size sedan segment was fierce, with established names like the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord dominating the market. The Kizashi's styling, while appealing, wasn't distinctive enough to stand out among its rivals. The CVT transmission, while fuel-efficient, also drew criticism for its lack of responsiveness and unrefined feel. Nevertheless, the Kizashi was a notable attempt by Suzuki to expand its market reach. Its combination of style, comfort, and features provided a compelling alternative in the mid-size sedan category. The Kizashi's production ended in 2014, leaving a legacy as a testament to Suzuki's aspirations in the North American market.
