The Suzuki Equator, produced from 2009 to 2013, was a mid-size pickup truck aimed at the North American market. It was essentially a rebadged Nissan Frontier, sharing the same platform, powertrains, and many components. This partnership allowed Suzuki to enter the competitive pickup truck segment without the significant investment required for developing an entirely new vehicle. The Equator was available in two cab configurations: King Cab with a 6.5-foot bed and Crew Cab with a 5.0-foot bed. Power came from a 4.0-liter V6 engine producing 261 horsepower and 281 lb-ft of torque, mated to a five-speed automatic transmission. The Equator offered a range of trims, from the base S model to the more luxurious LE, with features including cloth or leather upholstery, a premium sound system, and a sunroof.

While sharing its underpinnings with the Nissan Frontier, the Equator did feature some unique styling elements, including a distinct front grille and rear tailgate design. It also boasted a comfortable interior with ample space for passengers and cargo. The Equator, however, faced challenges in the marketplace. The truck's styling was perceived as somewhat generic, and it lacked the brand recognition of its Nissan counterpart. Its sales figures struggled to compete with established players like the Toyota Tacoma and Chevrolet Colorado. Ultimately, the Equator was discontinued in 2013, marking the end of Suzuki's foray into the pickup truck segment. Despite its short lifespan, the Equator offered a solid option for those seeking a reliable and capable mid-size truck, especially those familiar with the Nissan Frontier.
