The M1917 Browning Heavy Machine Gun was born by the US and Allied Armed Forces demands of WW1 and the need for a reliable and portable rapid fire weapon. It served well into WW2 and beyond.

The M1919 was a lighter air cooled version of the M1917 and was configured for various WW 2 combat applications. Besides ground troop use it was also configured to mount on various combat vehicles such a Jeeps, Tanks and even used in some aircraft applications.
