The Holden Epica, a mid-size sedan, was produced by the Australian automaker Holden from 2006 to 2009. Although it was marketed as a Holden, the Epica was actually a rebadged Daewoo Tosca, developed by the South Korean manufacturer Daewoo Motors. The Epica was Holden's first foray into the mid-size sedan market since the demise of the Holden Apollo in 1992. It aimed to compete with popular offerings from other manufacturers like the Toyota Camry, Nissan Maxima, and Honda Accord, offering a roomy and comfortable interior, a relatively powerful engine, and contemporary styling. The Epica featured a 2.0-liter four-cylinder petrol engine with 140 horsepower, paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic transmission. It was offered in two trim levels, the base model and the more luxurious CDX, with features like leather seats, a sunroof, and a premium sound system available on the higher trim. Despite the competitive features and price point, the Holden Epica never quite achieved the success Holden hoped for. The car faced stiff competition in the crowded mid-size sedan market, and its reputation suffered from some reliability issues. The Epica was also hampered by the lack of a diesel engine option, which was becoming increasingly popular in Australia at the time. Furthermore, its Daewoo heritage resulted in a perception of lower quality compared to its Japanese rivals. As a result, production ceased in 2009 after just four model years. While the Holden Epica ultimately wasn't a commercial success for Holden, it remains an interesting example of a rebadged model offered by a major automaker. This service repair manual provides valuable information for mechanics and enthusiasts alike, aiding in the maintenance and repair of this unique car.
