About Toro

Toro is a manufacturer of equipment for care and maintenance golf courses, sports fields, residential home lawns, public grounds parks and agricultural fields. Toro is based in Bloomington, Minnesota, with manufacturing facilities around the country and the world. Toro brands are sold and supported by distributors, dealers and large home center retailers around the world. Home centers primarily including Home Depot and Lowes.

Toro produces equipment for the homeowner residential property care, such as hand push walk behind mowers, self propelled walk behind mowers, weed trimmers, electric and gas leaf and debris blowers, riding lawn mowers, garden tractors, zero turn mowers ZRT ZTR, utility vehicles, electric and gas leaf and debris vacuums, as well as complete irrigation systems. In addition to lawn equipment, Toro also is one of the largest producer of snow removal equipment such as sno throwers, snow blowers, and snowthrowers.

With a long history making both single stage snowthrowers, and two stage snow throwers, Toro is considered the best brand among their homeowner and professional customers. There names include such as PowerMax Power Max Snowthrower, R-Tek RTek engine, Single Stage snow thrower, Power Shift snowthrower snow blower, snow commander snow thrower blower.

The Toro company began as Toro Motor Company in 1914, and primarily an engine supplier for Bull Tractor Company. Toro Motor Company survived the tumultuous years of World War I by producing steam engines to support the war effort. Toro changed its name in 1920 to Toro Manufacturing Company and began to focus on production of farming equipment.

In 1921, Toro created the first mechanical golf course maintenance equipment by mounting five lawn mowers behind a Toro tractor to mow the fairways at The Minikahda Club in Minneapolis Minnesota. Toro entered the residential market in 1925 with the Silver Flash push reel mower, and expanded into the international marketplace in 1928, shipping golf course and grounds equipment worldwide.

J.S. Clapper, President of the Toro Manufacturing Co. through the 1930s era once said - A successful business today can be judged by consumer confidence. There s no other yardstick. A new company starting out, regardless of the excellence of its product, finds sales resistance high because its good name has not yet been established. An old company carrying on, feels as the years go by, that its prime asset is its good name. There is a sound reason for this: the public knows by experience that a company with a good name values that name far more than the amount of an individual sale. This is as it should be, because a consumer is given the full measure of protection to which he is entitled. The good name that The Toro Company enjoys in the mowing machinery industry was not built up in a few months, but has been slowly earned after decades of worthwhile performance, proper value, and constant innovation -.
