The Triumph Herald 1200, 12/50, Vitesse, and Spitfire were a series of compact cars produced by the British manufacturer Triumph Motor Company between 1959 and 1971. The Herald, launched in 1959, was the first of the series and featured a distinctive, boxy design with a unitized body structure, making it lighter and more rigid than its predecessors. The 12/50, introduced in 1961, was essentially an uprated Herald with a larger engine and a more luxurious interior. The Vitesse, launched in 1963, was the sportiest version of the Herald, featuring a tuned engine and a racier appearance. Finally, the Spitfire, introduced in 1962, was a roadster version of the Herald, designed for driving pleasure.

The Triumph Herald and its variants were known for their handling and performance, particularly the Vitesse and Spitfire models. The cars were powered by a range of four-cylinder engines, ranging from 948cc to 1147cc, with the Vitesse and Spitfire featuring higher-tuned versions. They were available with both manual and automatic transmissions. The Herald was also notable for its innovative design features, such as its unitized body construction, independent front suspension, and rear swing axles. Despite their popularity, the Herald and its variants were ultimately discontinued in 1971, replaced by the Triumph Dolomite. The legacy of the Herald, however, lives on, with many enthusiasts continuing to restore and maintain these classic British cars.
