The Subaru B9 Tribeca, produced from 2005 to 2007, was Subaru's attempt to enter the mid-size SUV market with a more luxurious and refined offering than their traditional rugged off-roaders. This three-row crossover, built on a modified Subaru Legacy platform, aimed to appeal to families and individuals seeking a spacious and comfortable vehicle with Subaru's renowned all-wheel-drive capabilities. The Tribeca featured a distinctive, somewhat polarizing design with a large, boxy front end and a sloping roofline. The B9 Tribeca, available in Limited and Premium trims, was powered by a 3.0-liter horizontally opposed six-cylinder engine that produced 250 horsepower and 219 lb-ft of torque. Paired with a 5-speed automatic transmission, the Tribeca provided adequate power, but its handling and performance were not considered particularly sporty. Interior space was generous, with comfortable seating for up to seven passengers. The Tribeca was equipped with standard features such as power windows, locks, and mirrors, as well as a premium sound system, climate control, and a sunroof. Safety features included anti-lock brakes, electronic stability control, and front and side airbags. However, the B9 Tribeca failed to gain the same popularity as other Subaru models, facing stiff competition from established players in the mid-size SUV segment. It was discontinued after 2007, and its legacy remains rather overshadowed by other Subaru offerings like the Forester and Outback.
