The Mitsubishi GTO, also known as the 3000GT in North America, was a high-performance sports car produced by Mitsubishi Motors from 1990 to 2000. It was designed to compete with other Japanese sports cars like the Nissan Skyline GT-R and Toyota Supra, and also targeted the likes of the Porsche 911 and the Chevrolet Corvette. The GTO's sleek and aerodynamic design, coupled with its powerful engine options, made it a popular choice for both enthusiasts and professional drivers. It was available in both coupe and targa body styles, with the latter featuring a removable roof panel.

The GTO was offered with a range of engine options, including a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 producing 276 horsepower in standard form and 297 horsepower in VR-4 trim. The VR-4 model, the top-of-the-line trim, featured a sophisticated all-wheel drive system with a limited-slip differential and a variable-valve timing system that improved both power and fuel efficiency. The GTO also boasted advanced suspension technology, including independent front and rear suspension, as well as optional adjustable dampers. These impressive features contributed to the GTO's exceptional handling and performance, making it a formidable contender on the track and a thrilling experience on the open road. While the GTO never achieved the iconic status of its Japanese rivals, it left a lasting impression on the automotive landscape, showcasing Mitsubishi's commitment to innovation and performance engineering.
