The BMW R850 R and R850C, launched in 2003, were air-cooled, boxer-twin motorcycles that represented BMW's approach to the naked and cruiser segments respectively. The R850 R, a successor to the highly acclaimed R1100R, was a sport-touring machine with a sharp, aggressive design. It featured a low-slung frame, a telescopic front fork, and a single-sided swingarm, all contributing to its sporty handling and rider engagement. On the other hand, the R850C was BMW's foray into the cruiser market, a segment they were relatively new to. However, unlike typical American cruisers, it retained BMW's signature boxer engine, providing a unique blend of performance and character.
