The Mercury Villager, produced from 1993 to 1997, was a minivan that represented a joint venture between Ford Motor Company and Nissan Motors. The Villager shared its platform and many mechanical components with the Nissan Quest, making it a distinct departure from traditional Mercury models. This partnership aimed to leverage the strengths of both companies, with Ford contributing its expertise in minivan design and manufacturing while Nissan provided its renowned drivetrain technology. The Villager was designed to appeal to families seeking a stylish and practical minivan with a touch of luxury. It offered spacious seating for seven passengers, generous cargo space, and a comfortable and refined interior.

The Villager's styling was distinctive, characterized by a rounded body with sharp lines and a prominent chrome grille. It was initially offered with a 3.0-liter V6 engine, paired with a four-speed automatic transmission. Later models received a 3.3-liter V6 engine, which provided more power and better fuel economy. The Villager was equipped with a wide array of standard features, including air conditioning, power steering, power brakes, and a cassette stereo. Optional equipment included a sunroof, leather upholstery, and a power sliding door. While the Villager received positive reviews for its spacious interior, smooth ride, and comfortable driving experience, it faced competition from other popular minivans like the Chrysler Town & Country and the Honda Odyssey. Despite its initial success, the Villager's sales declined towards the end of its production run, leading to its discontinuation in 1997.
