This manual is an invaluable resource for both professional mechanics and DIY enthusiasts seeking to perform maintenance, repairs, or restoration work on their Porsche 968. The Porsche 968 is a sports car produced by the German automotive manufacturer Porsche from 1991 to 1995. It was the successor to the Porsche 944, and served as the final iteration of the Transaxle-series of Porsche vehicles, which featured a front-mounted engine and rear-wheel drive layout. The 968 was initially designed to be the next generation of the 944, but the project's development was fraught with delays and budget cuts, ultimately leading to a larger, more expensive car than originally intended.

Despite its challenging development, the 968 represents a culmination of the improvements Porsche made to the 944 platform. The car's 3.0-liter, naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine produced 236 horsepower with an optional variable valve lift system capable of boosting output to 247 horsepower. Paired with a 6-speed manual transmission or a 4-speed automatic, the 968 offered sharp handling and a surprisingly engaging driving experience. Its sleek exterior, designed by Tony Hatter, combined iconic Porsche styling elements like the sloping hood line and distinctive rear spoiler with contemporary cues for a sophisticated and sporty aesthetic. The 968 was available in a variety of body styles, including a coupe, a convertible, and a rare club sport variant known as the "CS". Although the 968 was a critical and commercial success, production ended in 1995 as Porsche transitioned to the new, water-cooled 911 and the mid-engined Boxster. However, it remains a beloved classic among Porsche enthusiasts for its sporty performance, refined handling, and timeless design.
